howdy. good luck with your forum and thanks for putting somethign like this up. it would be simply great if more people would use this tool. i know that so many times that I would love to find a place online that I could ask people such as myself some questions if I get stumped..

anyways, the shop i'm in has a poreba they've inherited that's been submerged when Katrina hit the area.
It has about a 48" swing and center distance of about 28 feet. Again, it's been totally submerged but it's all there, etc. My question is, is it worth it to hire a rebuild company to rebuild it or just sell it outright? Does anyone know scrap value? we've been offered about 10,000 for the machine from a local dealer who wants to send it off to Europe to get a total rebuild on it (it needs a TOTAL rebuild).

Thanks

cncSteve !!

Steve,

Don't forget that if you DO scrap the machine YOU will most likely have to pay for the rigging / loading charges..... Other than that, I'm sorry I don't have anymore advice I could give ya'.. Good Luck..

You are exactly right ! We brought a scrap dealer in here. Everything sounded great, gave us a good offer then ended by saying, just get the machine to my yard and we'll finish the deal. Needless to say the cost to get it to his yard is in excess of 5,000 - 6,000 (that includes rigging, trucking and unloading)

I think we'll just sell it outright to a dealer that offers us $. I didn't write that other dealers phone number down that offered us 10,000.. Hopefully he'll call back.
